Importance of Low Cost Airlines In India
Some years ago, travelling by flights was not possible for middle class peoples in India. High rates of flight services compelled travelers to choose train over flights. Imagine the situation where time taken to reach from Delhi to Mumbai or Bangalore took more than 2 days. But now with the changing economy and emerge of low cost airlines in India the whole scenario have been changed.
In last some year Indian aviation sector have gone through a major change where many budget airlines services have started. Jet Konnect, Jet Lite, Kingfisher, Go Air, SpiceJet and recently launched Air India express have change the preference of travelers in India and they are more comfortable in choosing flights over any other travel option.
These low cost airlines are rapidly growing their share in India domestic sector. It has been already predicted that by the end of 2010 these low cost carriers will capture around 70% of India domestic flight sector. Currently IndiGo has 11% market share followed by 10% share of SpiceJet.
These low cost carriers cut their expenses on complimentary meals, snacks, beverages which are available in other full service providers. Their goal is just to carry passengers to their destinations. This idea is best for those who are not looking for any luxurious facilities and they have only aim to reach to their destination in a faster way.
Now if you see at the business model of major airlines services, they all are focusing more on LLC’s business. Air India, the national air services of India ignored the importance of LLC’s but now they are bound to launch their first low cost service that was launched this month by the name of Air India Express. This shows that importance of this sector cannot be ignored anyway. This is also increasing competition among various fliers and thus providing ample scope and options to travelers.
